Your first week at Mentora, hour by hour

The parking lot is bigger than it looks on the website. That is the first thing almost everyone mentions, usually with relief, because the practical fear of where to put the car is easier to feel than the bigger fear of whether you belong in the room. You do. But let us walk through the week anyway.
Monday evening starts thirty minutes early on purpose. Session one of every course opens with coffee in the atrium, name tags and no icebreaker games, we promise. Your instructor walks the group to the room, hands out the term plan, and covers the boring logistics everyone needs: wifi, bathrooms, where the recordings live.
By the second hour you will already have done something small and real. In the design course that is a poster made from a magazine page and a marker. In web development it is a website about your favorite food, live on the internet before you go home. This is deliberate. Leaving the first night having made something changes how you feel about the course.
Tuesday through Thursday, expect quiet. Homework is light in week one and we set it that way on purpose, so you can figure out your rhythm before the real work starts in week three. Students who message the class group chat early tend to settle in fastest. The chat is where lost passwords, shared notes and dinner recommendations get sorted.
Friday is when the impostor feeling usually peaks, somewhere between the second coffee and the first homework file. That feeling is not a warning sign, it is a sign you are doing something new. Two weeks from now you will be explaining a concept to a classmate and realize you have a foothold. We have watched this happen hundreds of times.
One practical tip to finish. Bring a dedicated notebook for the course and use only that one. Sounds trivial, works anyway. See you Monday.
